Idea Lounge in April!

Carmen Snyder and Abby Bard
Wednesday, April 23, 7-8 PM (Doors open at 6:30)
$15/members; $20 non-members

What is the Idea Lounge?
The Idea Lounge pairs two speakers who may have never met. One speaker is from the arts and the other is not. For twenty minutes each, the speakers present an aspect of their lives which may include how they chose their professions, how people or circumstances inspired them, or decisions they made that changed their lives. The audience has equal time to uncover the commonalities between two seemingly disparate topics and career paths.

Carmen Snyder: Why I Started Farm Trails

When living in an intentional farming community in North Carolina, Carmen fell in love with farm life and food production. Carmen is passionate about promoting local farmers, educating the public about the importance of supporting local food systems. She oversees Farm Trails operations, is committed to fulfilling Farm Trails' mission to keep "farms forever" in Sonoma County and produces the Gravenstein Apple Fair. Over the course of her career, she has worked as a middle school Language Arts teacher, yoga instructor, and principal organizer for the Southeastern Permaculture Gathering.

Abby Bard: Exploring Connection: A Weaver's Journey

I am a weaver.  My hands hold the desire for connection -- for as long as I can remember, they have instinctively intertwined elements of nature. A piece of fabric and a subsequent trip to Guatemala in 1974 began the weaving journey that became my profession and passion. I’m grateful to be a part of this ancient tradition that connects me with other weavers around the world. More than 50 years later, I am still eager to sit down at my looms and to share my vision of nature’s harmony by weaving functional textiles for clothing and home décor.
