Join Linda Loveland Reid on a journey through the world of Bay Area Figurative Art and its response to New York Abstract Expressionism.

New York Abstract Expressionists Clyfford Still and Mark Rothko pushed California painters out of their comfort zone. Modern art became the norm. The local artists eventually rebelled, and Bay Area Figurative Art emerged as the tradition. Among artists to be reviewed are Hassel Smith, Sam Francis, Frank Lobdell, Elmer Bischoff, Richard Diebenkorn, and David Park.
