"What's going on in this picture?" This seemingly simple question launches an exploration of art and ideas in small-group casual conversation. Enjoy the "no-wrong-answer" vibe of this bi-monthly series and get up close and personal with new works of art.
Visual Thinking Strategies (VTS) is a small-group, guided way to look at and talk about art based on three questions, starting with "What's going on in this picture?". Students are encouraged to express their own opinions about the art. VTS encourages critical thinking and listening skills; it is amazing to watch the students (even the quietest ones) feel empowered to share their observations. For adults, VTS offers an opportunity to open minds, and to reflect on and experience art in a collaborative and community-building manner. https://vtshome.org/ Visit the Events page for ongoing evening VTS events for adults called "unPACking art".
