Join us the evening of Wednesday, January 24th, for an Idea Lounge conversation with Llisa Demetrios, Director of the Eames Institute of Infinite Curiosity, and Stephanie Blake, CEO for Skylight. Come for drinks and mingling at 6:30pm, and enjoy the program from 7:00-8:00pm.
ART - LLisa Demetrios - “What can we learn from Ray & Charles Eames that might apply to the challenges we face today?”
The overarching goal of the Eames Institute of Infinite Curiosity is to unpack the way that Ray & Charles Eames worked, the way they infused their designs and lives with curiosity and discovery at every turn to solve problems at any scale. They demonstrated—time and time again—design’s unique ability to address disparate clients' needs, while finding ways to improve quality of life for all.
The youngest granddaughter of Ray and Charles Eames, Llisa Demetrios is a third-generation maker that follows in the footsteps of her grandparents’ creative legacy. She leads the Eames Institute of Infinite Curiosity, a non-profit public charity that aims to equip everyone with the lessons of Ray and Charles Eames, so that anyone can solve problems through design.
LIFE - Stephanie Blake - “How can we better integrate the mission and goals of community, companies and the built environment to create more sustainable neighborhoods and cities for all of us today?”
Skylight's mission is to build community by developing cultural venues for shared experiences in historic, storied spaces. Our placemaking work focuses on the revitalization of underutilized buildings, districts and neighborhoods. We identify the valuable intersection of the mission of nonprofits, creators, artists with the resources and missions of brands & real estate. We see our fortune 100 brands and global real estate partners as the 21st century patrons of arts, community and culture.
A history major and former Google Ad sales employee, Stephanie leads the vision as CEO for Skylight: a female-owned venue development group that unites distinct real estate and global brands to create cultural centers. We are urban archaeologists revitalizing spaces through the art of gathering.
The Idea Lounge Returns in 2024
The purpose of the Idea Lounge is to share stories and build connections that inspire and motivate, generate reflection, promote empathy, and celebrate community.
The Idea Lounge pairs two speakers who may have never met. One speaker is from the arts and the other is not.
For twenty minutes each, the speakers present an aspect of their lives which may include how they chose their professions, how people or circumstances inspired them, or decisions they made that changed the direction of their lives or careers.
The audience has equal time to uncover the commonalities between two seemingly disparate topicsand career paths. Idea Lounge lasts one hour.
The monthly event, on the fourth Wednesday of the month, is held at the Petaluma Arts Center. It is scheduled from 6:30-8pm with the event starting at 7pm. Refreshments are available.
