Being a Self-Supporting Artist: A Painting Demonstration and Resource Sharing

Maggie Parr: Artist and PAC Board Member

www.maggieparr.com

Maggie Parr has been writing, designing, and painting for over thirty years as a self-supporting artist. She received her BA from Pomona College and MFA from Cal State Fullerton. Her first job was at Gemini Graphic Editions, where she worked as a printer with artists such as Roy Lichtenstein and Claus Oldenburg. After that, Walt Disney Imagineering hired her as a show designer for theme parks. Maggie has designed themed environments around the world; written and illustrated books; and painted portraits and murals for individuals and companies. Her passion is in visual storytelling: creating a visual vocabulary around a central narrative.

For Art Exchange, Maggie will do a live demo of classical oil painting technique on a Disney portrait while sharing favorite resources and explaining how she secures clients.
