The Petaluma Arts Center is launching a new program “PAC Out of the Box,” featuring collaborative activities that take place literally and figuratively outside the walls of the Arts Center and outside the typical art exhibition. First up is an exciting series of talks with a twist:  the Idea Lounge. Imagine two speakers: one from the arts, one not. THE AUDIENCE discovers what they have in common, revealing the connections between art and life.

Representing art is Eric Adams, a screenwriter, whose topic is “What makes a great film great?”. Representing life is Bradford Rex, a boat racer, whose topic is “Getting from A to B in Someone Else’s Boat”.

The Idea Lounge will take place at Lagunitas Brewing Company, in their new Lounge space. Join us at 6:30 for socializing, then grab a seat at 7:00 p.m. for an hour of unpredictable fun. Tickets are $15 and may only be purchased in advance through Brown Paper Tickets, Only 50 seats available:

Lagunitas Lounge is located on the north end of the property in the Bibbero building 1300 N. McDowell Blvd, Petaluma, 94954.

La Montagne Penelope High Res Publishing IMG_3669          FrancineHuss

Author and speaker Francine Huss will share her expertise on the subject of the creative process. She says creativity is the link between the invisible potential and everything that becomes visible and experience. Whether creating an artistic masterpiece or your dream life or ideal work, understanding how to capitalize on this process will help. She’ll offer and sign her new book at this event. “ThinkBetter.LIVEBETTER. 5 Steps to Create The Life You Deserve” is published by SheWrites Press/Berkeley.

Penelope La Montagne is poet laureate emerita of Healdsburg, CA. (2004-2006) Penelope lives on the banks of the Russian River and has learned most of what she knows from watching the river, not pushing, not holding back. For six years, she was the producer of Morning Haiku for KRCB Radio in Sonoma County . She is a California Poet in the Schools, a local realtor, and author of “River Shoes” by Running Wolf Press and co-author of “Fruit of Life, Poems of Passion and Politics”, published by dpress; also a full length manuscript, “When Nature Chooses You Back”. Traveling Postcards

Traveling Postcards Workshop
Sunday, April 12, 1-3pm.
Limited to 40 participants

“Traveling Postcards” is a humanitarian organization founded by Petaluma resident Caroline Lovell on the premise that art has the ability to heal, feed and transform our lives. They are handmade postcards containing portraits of love and words of solidarity, and are created to facilitate healing for those women who are survivors of violence and abuse around the world. Traveling Postcards are created by anyone with a desire to enact change, empower women and girls, and help battle oppression.

There is something magical that happens within me when I am making a Traveling Postcard. I open my heart to my hands and share my soul with a woman I may never know, but who I already love. She is me and I am her. In this act of creation we share our vulnerability and our strength all in the same breath. It is love in action.” Thank you Caroline,
Janis McKinstry
