Vickisa's dog Rosebud adds to the fun of this class and serves as a model. During this week, Vickisa has planned a variety of project that focus on nature and what we find in nature.  Techniques such as drawing, painting and construction are demonstrated before each project.

Day 1: Drawing animals
During this week, students can use Rosebud as a model or bring pictures of their own pets to work with. Rosebud not only poses but also does a few tricks. Instead of drawing Rosebud, students may bring a photo of their pet to work with.

Day 2: Paint rocks with animal images
Children will be shown examples of painted rocks and shown choices of animals to paint with acrylics and sharpies. There are step by step example of many animals and photos of animals for the project to choose from. There will be a selection of washed stones to choose from. After the demonstration of project they will paint their stones. The little 3D animals should be dry and children will paint their animals on the rock  then pack them in a box to take home in case they are not totally dry.

Day 3: How to draw birds and horses
Birds and/or horses; the children will vote. There will be demonstrations and discussion about various shapes of beaks and wings. We will discuss how to "see and notice" different aspects of many animals. We will also explore using sheep skin to create sheep and our own little pasture.

Day 4: Make an assemblage of found objects in animal form
A cloth covering lots of found objects from the beach, nature and junk will greet children when they arrive. After viewing examples of art created from "found objects," children can choose some of the found objects and create their own assemblage. Students should feel free to bring in their own "found objects" from home to include and share.
