Craft your very own mini-magazine in the tradition of counter-culture artists and activists.  This class is for anyone interested in sharing their unique voice.  Zines are all about free-speech and the power to say what you want to say.  We will learn the intas-book form, to create an 8-page tiny zine, and then create larger zines if you choose using a copy machine to quickly reproduce your work and get it out to the world.  Express yourself your way, and make something meaningful to you!

Come with an idea or theme, or start fresh as you play with found images, type on a 1930s typewriter, and create your own images.  You may collaborate with others in the class, or make a zine on your own.  There is no wrong way to do it!

About the instructor:

Asherah Weiss is an arts educator who will be starting her first full-time teaching job at Healdsburg Junior High this fall.  She received her credential from SSU, and studied art, design and architecture before that.  She loves to craft, get outside, and figure out how to break through creative blocks by making anything that comes to her mind.

"Making things with our hands, and sharing that with others, is the most human thing we can do.  We've been doing it for thousands of years!"
