Class 1:Introduction, discussion of course contents, student objectives and
interests. Cover history and basic elements of design. Assignment:on
paper or board describe depth with line, basic color wheel concepts and
understanding blending pigment from one complementary color to another.
Class 2: Discuss assignment from previous class. Begin exploration of the
elements of design including color and using them in your compositions.
Class 3: Using collage, cut paper to compose considering various elements
Class 4: Looking at art history and relating elements of design and principles
of color previously discussed.

optional: knife and healing cutting surface 12" x 9" or board, tempura: paints
white, black, red, yellow, blue, (Basic Washable Tempera Paint By Creatology $7
or Crayola Washable Kids' Paint Jars $5 from Michaels) colored paper
(Recollections Primary Card Stock from Michaels $5.) Various brushes, flat and
round, removable glue stick
Each artist can choose their own materials as long as they are relevant
to class topics.
Ages 14 and up. Whether you are an artist or just interested in the subject
matter, this is a class for you.
The Instructor, Gary McKinnon spent 30 years designing and directing
advertising and broadcast graphics. He has done work for all of the major media
networks and many international broadcasters. From a background in traditional
animation he rode the wave into the digital future of 3D.
