Summer Arts Camp: Australian Aboriginal Style Painting with Sarah Voorhies

Australian Aboriginal Style Painting with Sarah Voorhies

Dates: Monday, June 26 – Thursday, June 29
Time: 1:30pm – 4:00pm
Ages: 7 - 17
Tuition: $125 general, $112.50 PAC members
Materials Fee: $20 payable to instructor on first day of class
Registration Deadline: Wednesday, June 21, 11:59pm

Inspired by the Australian Aboriginal dream paintings and using acrylic paint this class will create complex designs or stories on wooden or stone surfaces in the traditional “dot” style. The technique of paint application is fairly simple, but part of the fascination in the class is the process of finding the story within the work , creating personal symbols and deciphering the meanings of the design elements. Included is a study of original Australian Aboriginal art works.

About the Instructor:
As a long time credentialed classroom teacher and artist in the Sebastopol/Forestville area, Sarah has taught in school classrooms (both public and private) and given small private art classes as well as offering private individual lessons.  For over 20 years she worked at the Cazadero Family Music and Arts Summer Camp. For many summers she ran a Summer Drama Camp for teens as well as Art and Science Summer Programs.

Sarah is a professional potter and also works with textiles, drawing, painting, stained glass and basketry.

Please note: Occasionally, PAC will need to cancel a class. If this happens, PAC will notify students at least one day in advance and give a full refund or credit to another Summer Arts Camp 2017 class.

Every day from 1:30 PM to 4:00 PM Until 6/29/2017 PST
