This is a beautifully costumed doll that can be displayed on a wall or sit on a shelf. Tab head, wired fingers, Momi paper shoes, using a template sewing technique. Body structure is similar to vintage bed dolls. Imaginatively costumed, fabric doll with wired fingers. Playing with clothing components, embellishment and expression to promote individuality is a key element of the class. The figure wears a flower fascinator made from wool felt and wire. Fabric doll and clothing are sewn in advance.
Discussion of placement and shaping of features on the face, highlight and shadow to create depth are also included. An update using embroidery techniques in the face is included. Hair attachment is demonstrated. Costuming choices using some basic shapes, manipulations and layering create individualization in the doll. This doll about 14 to 15 inches from head to toe. Color, composition and characterization will be discussed.
