PAC Welcomes Carin Jacobs as Executive Director

The Board of Directors of the Petaluma Arts Center is pleased to announce that the long vacant position of Executive Director has been filled by veteran arts administrator and supporter Carin Jacobs.

Carin brings her experience, wisdom, and vision to help lead us forward as we continue to define the PAC as Petaluma’s artistic and cultural hub, and as we continue our mission of building our community’s creative capacity. Carin joins our team of dedicated staff, volunteers, and board members to lead us into a promising future of artistic expression and exploration.

Carin’s career spans over 20 years in arts administration, fund and audience development and program design at several Bay Area institutions including SFMOMA and the Oakland Museum.  Before joining PAC she served as Director of Lifelong Learning at Sonoma State University and served on numerous boards including the Western Museums Association, Petaluma Arts Center and Museum of Sonoma County. She holds a Master’s Degree in Museum Studies from John F. Kennedy University and a Bachelor’s Degree in French Literature from UC Santa Cruz.

Carin moved to Petaluma from Alameda eight years ago and immediately began volunteering at PAC, realizing that sharing her skills might be a good way to get involved in her new community. She spent several years on the PAC Board of Directors, curated Tidal Response (an exhibition exploring the intersection of art, science and ecology in the region) and created the popular Idea Lounge series.

In speaking about her new position and vision, Carin stated:

“The arts are both informed by and help shape our unique sense of place, and there are so many community partners to help us dig deeper into that idea. I see great potential for PAC to serve as a creative catalyst and a connector between geographies and generations, as well as between art and life. This new role is the perfect culmination of so many threads for me; it feels like coming home.”
